Pals, this wedding was a DREAM. The brief was inspirational; the vibe, relaxed; the couple, stylish as anything. Sarah and Bryan wanted a laidback and romantic wedding day with gorgeous bohemian styling. This meant no fuss and no over the top décor; instead, a low-key but lush vibe to flow from the chapel through to the restaurant.

Oh, and did we mention we created a tiki bar from which margaritas and mojitos were served? Told you, a DREAM!

The Ceremony

But first: the beautiful ceremony. Leng Memorial Chapel is the perfect setting for a stylish wedding ceremony, as its gorgeous tall windows and stonewash walls make it a stunning setting already. We wanted to emphasise this with lots of greenery, which we attached to the walls and tied to the chair backs to line the aisles, and a truckload of pillar candles around the back of the altar, which created a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Guests followed white paper lanterns dotted through the trees on the way up long, winding road up to the chapel, and were greeted with our stunning wooden “Welcome to our wedding” sign upon arrival to signify that they were in for a treat.

The Reception

Afterwards, the wedding party moved over to Forgan’s to get the real party started. We love a restaurant wedding anyway, as they’re always super laidback and have such a lovely atmosphere, but we especially love them at Forgan’s as it’s such a cool space. Often industrial spaces can be quite cold (both styling-wise and physically – top tip, buy heaters for warehouse spaces people!) but Forgan’s is full of character and distinction with something new to look at all the time.

We wanted to build on the warm and welcoming über-cool curios style of the venue with an assortment of our props for hire. In the entrance, we placed some vintage suitcases, baskets of pampas and fairy-light-adorned olive trees, as well as piles of blankets for evening strolls. The boards in Forgan’s can be customised, so Sarah and Bryan had the first one read “HEY! HO! I belong to you, you belong to me, you’re my sweetheart” (CUUUUUUTIES!) and the smaller one read “Dreams really do come true.”

The Dinner

And speaking of – our styling dreams really did come true with their dining tables. They chose two long tables dotted with blush pink, grey and ivory dinner and pillar candles and lined with greenery and eucalyptus (plus the bridesmaids’ bouquets by the wonderful Amy Annand.) We also popped sprigs of rosemary atop the gorgeous minimalist menus at each place setting, with table numbers and long table plan designed by us in partnership with The Dursley Design Co.

And, finally, the piece de resistance – OUR TIKI BAR! As the bride and groom’s favourite cocktails are a margarita and a mojito, they wanted us to transform the bar at Forgan’s into a tiki bar, and we were happy to oblige! We used grass walling, a wooden ‘shop front’, monstera leaves, bright flowers, and straw hats to create a tropical effect. Costa del St Andrews…

The Summary

From the first contact to fruition, we totally adored this brief. Working with super stylish couples is our jam, and we were so glad we could help out on the day to ensure that Sarah and Bryan were as relaxed as they wanted their guests to be. We even do the setdown the next day too, so they could really go loco with those margaritas, safe in the knowledge it would all be sorted for them!

We live to please…
